Youth Canada World - SYTO Programs Eco-Leadership Africa-Canada (PELAC)

  In collaboration with JCM, NAM groupings / Burkina Faso, Ministry of the agriculture of Mali and SYTO Senegal, It was set up in 2006 a program youth trilateral South-south "Agriculture " which takes place in Mali as well as in Burkina Faso and in the Senegal. Young persons of Mali, Burkina Faso and the Senegal participate in this program. This plan is not only an unique cultural exchanges for the maliiens, of Burkina Faso and Senegalese chosen young persons, but also has a considerable social impact by uniting the domains of production and agrarian transformation.

  Structure of the program

For the 2006-2007 program, after the selection of the participants, two groups will be formed. They will have as course a stay of 2 months in a city of Mali and another stay of 1 month either in Burkina, or in Senegal. Each of the groups will be structured in the following way:

  • 6 young persons of Mali
  • 6 young persons of the Burkina
  • 6 young persons of the Senegal
  • A supervisor of Mali and a supervisor of Burkina (for the group staying in Burkina) or of Senegal (for the group staying in the Senegal)
  • An equal number of men and women in every team of 6
  • Every person will be twinned with somebody of another country
  • Every pair of young persons will live with a family of reception and participate in its daily activities
  • Every young person will work with a counterpart in the community
The young persons will develop attitudes and competences and they will acquire knowledge such as:

- Adaptation
- Leading role
- Inter-cultural communication
- Work of team
- Sense of the organization and sense of responsibilities
- Mind of analysis
- Resolution of problems
- Environment
- Agriculture

Criteria of selection:

- Be of Senegalese nationality
- Be between 18 and 25 year old
- Have a training in Agriculture or in Environment (or be in process of supplementing it) or an appropriate experience in the one or other one of these domains
- Have an interest supported as questions raising agriculture
- Have a good workmanship of the Frenchman.

Contents of program:

The joint program of JCM, NAM groupings / Burkina Faso, Ministry of the agriculture of Mali and SYTO Senegal is not aimed unique at benefiting in the youth of Mali, Burkina and the Senegal but also in communities within which will take place plans. The young persons will work with a variety of plans: old persons, persons disabled persons, recycling of objects, Community groups or others. By working in different environments, every young person will bring to the group of experiments and different perspectives.

The plans of the young persons concentrate on subjects linked up with the community development and with environment. Interesting subjects will be able to be approached through the days of instructive activities in which the young persons will participate.

Working plans are worked out according to needs and realities of the environment and according to interests and competences of the participants.

At the end of program, the young persons will benefit, each there what concerns it, of budgets which will allow them to set up microplans.

CONDITIONS

Card ISIC (obligatory for the students)

- Form to be filled on place
- Photocopy student card / certificate or certificate of inscription of the ongoing year
- 2 photographs of identity
- 5 500 Fcfa

Documents to be provided
- Freshly of inscription:2 500 Fcfa
- 4 photographs of identity
- 1 Born extract (less than 3 months)
- 1 Extract of the police record (less than 3 months)
- 1 Wedding act (for the bridegrooms)
- 1 Letter of motivation addressed to the head de SYTO
- 1 Curriculum vitae
- 1 Photocopy shapes of passeport*
- Photocopies of degrees and acquired certificates *

*Les eccentrics will have to be introduced at the same time as the file.

Besides, the candidates who work will have to produce:

- A working certificate
- A certificate of availability signed by their actual employer for the duration of the program to be known from September, 2006 to march 2007 (6 months).

Besides, all participants will have to promise written to respect the essential elements of program for the duration of the program, comprising Senegalese stage (for the participants whose second stage is envisaged in Thiès). These elements are: stay in family of reception (different from its natural family), involvement in a working plan (different from the habitual workplace for the participants being already in the service of an employer) and participation in the days of instructive activities.

Selection

Selection will be made on file and will be followed by an interview. It will be kept 12 participants on the official list and 04 participants on the list of wait (reservists).

All discreet participants (16) will inevitably have to follow all activities of meadow orientation envisaged up to the obtaining of the agreement of direction which will confirm the final list of the participants to take part really in program.

Financial participation

The discreet participants (official list and reservists) will have to make a collection of fund of a sum of frank hundred and fifty thousand CFA (150 000 Fcfa) as personal commitment for their participation in this program.

They will have to deposit a not repayable advance of thirty frank thousand CFA (30 000 Fcfa) just after the publication of the official list for the opening of the file. Supplementary benefit will have to be poured{paid} at the latest on June 30th, 2006.

To notice that one will take care of all expenses of program: international transport, accommodation and food in family of reception, spending money during both stages of program.

NB: paid supplementary benefit will be reimbursed to the participants who will not finally take part of this program.
